World’s-largest cellphone maker Nokia announced it is developing the Nokia Home Control Center, a platform that will allow users to control their home electronics, security systems and energy management systems via a mobile device.

With the Nokia Home Control Center, users will be able to view and control their home’s electricity consumption, turn devices on and off, and view current temperatures, camera views and motion sensor status.

Nokia is considering offering a dual-branded version of its technology for high-volume customers. It will use a Linux 2.6-series kernel as the interface in the devices while a Z-wave or security radio will also be integrated to communicate with the home devices.

Nokia is also working with five other companies to develop smart home solutions in the near future. The Finnish cellphone maker will demonstrate its new technology at the Nokia World event in Barcelona, Spain on December 2-3.

Acer will launch a 10-inch version of the Aspire One netbook in February or March 2009.One of the reasons for the success of netbooks is that they provide the basics of a computer device inside a small form factor and with a price tag suitable for the currently low worldwide economy. The 10-inch model is rumored to carry the same features as the original Aspire One, except with the display now being 10-inches in size the casing will be slightly larger. Hopefully, we will begin to see some other features in this model, such as the inclusion of 3G support on models released here in the US, but it looks like we are going to have to wait a bit longer to get that information.Stay tuned for more updates.
